Georgian Laws
Surrogacy
The Republic of Georgia is one of the few countries located in Europe where surrogacy is legal. European quality, cost and the favorable conditions for both residents and non-residents are the main reasons why childless couples from all around the world pursue surrogacy in this country.
Simple Parental Recognition
Before starting treatment a surrogate and the Intended Parents (IP) sign a notarized agreement. The IPs do not need to be physically present, as they can be represented by a power of attorney. The notarized agreement is later used to register the Intended Parents as the child's legal parents on the birth certificate. No additional documents are required for this process. The surrogate shall not have any rights to the child, and by no means will be recognized as the legal mother of the child. The birth certificate is issued within 5 days to one month after the child's birth.

Only Heterosexual couples can be served
LGBTQ+ couples and singles can’t become parents via surrogacy in Georgia.
IVF and donation
In Georgia, IVF and donation are fully regulated and legally permitted. The legislation allows for the use of donor eggs, sperm, and embryos, with no restrictions on their export abroad. This makes Georgia a favorable destination for assisted reproductive technologies, offering flexibility and comprehensive legal support for international patients.
